WARE SHOALS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Laurens County Coroner said a man drowned at Pitts Park in Ware Shoals on Sunday afternoon. This is the second drowning at the park this summer. The coroner tells FOX Carolina the drowning happened at the same place where 23-year-old Juan Otoniel Antonio Simon drowned on June 23.

A drowning victim at Irvin Pitts Memorial Park in Ware Shoals was identified late Monday by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office. Chief Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp said the victim was identified as Armada Alvarez-Munez, a 38-year-old native of Colombia. He was swimming in the Saluda River at the park around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Laurens County Coroner’s office responded to a call at Pitts Park in Ware Shoals on Sunday July 7 around 3:30 pm for a drowning. Chief Deputy Patti Canupp identified the decedent as Diego Armada Alvarez-Munez 38-year-old male from Mexico Colombia. An autopsy was done this am. I will know.
