A Missouri woman is accused of hatching a fraudulent scheme using fake names, emails, and documents to defraud Elvis Presley’s family out of millions of dollars by threatening to foreclose and auction off the famed Graceland estate to the highest bidder.

Lisa Jeanine Findley, 53, was charged with mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced in a news release after her arrest and after the criminal complaint was unsealed on Friday. The charges carry a minimum of two years in prison for aggravated identity theft and up to 20 years for mail fraud.

“As alleged in the complaint, the defendant orchestrated a scheme to conduct a fraudulent sale of Graceland, falsely claiming that Elvis Presley’s daughter had pledged the historic landmark as collateral for a loan that she failed to repay before her death,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Nicole M. Argentieri, head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “As part of the brazen scheme, we allege that the defendant created numerous false documents and sought to extort a settlement from the Presley family. Now she is facing federal charges. The Criminal Division and its partners are committed to holding fraudsters to account.”

According to an affidavit that outlines the allegations, Findley posed as three people affiliated with a fictitious private lender named Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC.

Findley allegedly falsely claimed that Elvis’ late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley , who died in 2023, had borrowed $3.8 million in 2018 from Naussany Investments and had pledged Graceland, Elvis’ 13-acre Memphis residence and final resting place, as collateral for the loan.

To settle the purported claim, Findley allegedly sought $2.85 million from Elvis Presley’s family, court documents said.

She fabricated loan documents, forged the signatures of Lisa Marie Presley and a Florida State notary public, and filed a false creditor’s claim in a Los Angeles court and a fake deed of trust at a registrar’s office in Memphis, prosecutors said.

Findley also published a phony foreclosure notice in May in a Memphis newspaper, announcing Graceland would be auctioned to the highest bidder, authorities said.

As Law&Crime previously reported , the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s granddaughter, Danielle Riley Keough, Graceland’s sole owner as trustee after her mother died, filed a lawsuit on May 15 to stop the advertised auction and won after a state chancellor said important documents may not have borne Lisa Marie Presley’s authentic signature.

Prosecutors said that after the scheme drew international media attention, Findley wrote to representatives of Elvis Presley’s family, the Tennessee state court, and the media, falsely claiming the person responsible was a Nigerian identity thief, the affidavit said.

No lawyer was listed in the court document for Findley on Friday. NBC News , which connected the suspect to the Graceland plot, tracked her down in June through one of her alleged aliases, Lisa Holden.

From her porch in Missouri, she denied to the network any knowledge of the plot.

“I have no earthly idea what you’re talking about,” she told the network.
