A man faces charges in connection with an attack on his former Alabama beauty queen girlfriend who faces charges in a plot to kill her estranged husband.
Dorsey Ryan Love, 35, was arrested on July 31 on charges of assault-domestic violence-strangulation/suffocation, the Dothan Police Department said.
The arrest came after his girlfriend, Lindsay Shiver accused him of throwing her on a bed, trying to choke her, and suffocating her with a pillow in a house in Dothan, Alabama, on July 25, local ABC affiliate WDHN reported, citing a protection order request she filed against him on July 29.

In that document, Shiver also alleged Love had abused her earlier on a trip to Florida, in an incident she did not initially report to the police, the outlet reported.
“He threatened to kill me,” Shiver wrote, the document said.
Shiver allegedly plotted to murder her husband, Robert Shiver, on July 16, 2023, in the Bahamas. He filed for divorce that April over her alleged “adulterous conduct,” CNN reported, citing court documents.
As Law&Crime reported, Shiver was arrested that August, along with her then-lover, Terrance Bethel and his friend, Faron Newbold Jr., in Abaco, Bahamas. Police said they uncovered the suspected plot while investigating a break-in at a bar where Bethel worked and found evidence on his phone of the alleged plot, Bahamas Court News reported.
Shiver allegedly sent Newbold a message with photos of her husband, saying, “Kill him,” Chicago ABC affiliate WLS reported, citing court documents.
She allegedly told police any talk of killing was “said out of anger and frustration” after they argued, The Daily Mail reported.
“She continues to face the legal process with complete transparency and honesty,” the defense attorney said. “Lindsay is looking forward to getting this ordeal behind her and — most importantly — she is looking forward to being reunited with her young children who have been without their mother for many months.”
Robert Shiver survived the plot. He is an insurance executive who briefly played with the Atlanta Falcons and, before that, for the Auburn University Football team, according to his LinkedIn page.
Shiver, whose maiden name is Shirley, was named Miss Houston County in 2005, according to Houston County Pagents Inc.
Shiver was released on $100,000 bail and was allowed to return to the U.S. to live with her parents with an ankle monitor, Bahamas Court News reported. Her co-defendants were released on $20,000 bail with conditions that they wear ankle monitors, check in with police three times a week and keep a curfew, the news site reported.
