Talk about starting your day off on the wrong foot.

Police in Ohio are investigating after some thieves broke into a shoe store. It happened around 2 a.m. Oct. 8 at Sole Bros 513 in the downtown area. Here’s the kicker: According to the owner, the criminals stole 100 shoes — not pairs of shoes, but just the right ones. There were also some pairs of shoes taken along with clothing.

Owner Hunter Emigh posted on social media, hoping online sleuths could identify the suspects.

“If anyone has any information, recognizes these people, or anything related to it, reach out and let us know,” he wrote. “Share this, show your friends, if you hear anything or see anything reach out. I know someone’s boy has a limp now after jumping out the window. I know someone knows the drunk dude who took over 100 right shoes. I know someone knows the lady who knows she shouldn’t have been there.”

Cincinnati police also posted a clip of the incident.

Emigh told local ABC affiliate WCPO that the burglary was so frustrating and a huge hit to his inventory that he may just close the store. He said he received a notice from his alarm company about the in-progress burglary. He rushed to the store, but the thieves were gone when he arrived.

“I realized that they took almost every other shoe to a lot of the pairs that were on the wall,” Emigh said. “At that point, you know, it really was just like a demoralizing thing.”

It’s been a tough couple of years for his business as someone drove a car through the front door of the store’s previous location.

“This business and entrepreneurship has been a true test of everything for me,” he said.

Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040 or call Detective Bell at 513-352-3518.
