Mother, father arrested in death of 3-month-old son in Porter Ranch
A mother and father were arrested Thursday in connection with the death of their 3-month-old son in Porter Ranch, Los Angeles police said.Eric Shannon Johnson, 35, and Jalyn Smith, 21, were booked into Van Nuys jail for murder with bail set at $2 million for each suspect, LAPD arrest records show.Shannon Johnson, 3 months old, died Sept. 10 at the hospital, according to the coroner's report. The baby was injured in the 20500 block of West Deer Grass Court. No details about the injury and what happened were released.Johnson and Smith are expected in court on Monday.
Homeless woman trashes Carson bakery
The owner of a Carson bakery took to social media after he said a homeless woman ransacked his store overnight.The owner of Sweet Valentine Bakery on Avalon Boulevard says he arrived around 6 a.m. Friday to find a half-naked woman inside the business. Furniture, decorations and other items were scattered across the floor."We've been open for 10 months, so this hurts," owner Matthew Valentine said. "This hurts a lot, but the community has already shown up and given toward us and supported us."Footage posted on Instagram shows the damage left behind was extensive.Members of the community joined store employees in cleaning up the bakery Friday morning, allowing them to reopen in the afternoon.The owner says it's the second time the bakery was vandalized since opening.Police took the homeless woman into custody.The motive for the vandalism is not yet known.

Assault suspect in Mustang drives recklessly on LA freeways during wild chase
A wild chase through Los Angeles ended on the 91 Freeway in Gardena after the suspect raced down freeways and weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic in a desperate attempt to escape.AIR7 was over the pursuit around 5 p.m. Friday as the suspect fled in a bright yellow Mustang on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.The suspect transitioned onto the 405 and managed to get to Westchester in a short time. During that span, the suspect drove on the shoulder of the freeway and crisscrossed recklessly through lanes.At one point, the suspect exited the freeway and sped dangerously through a residential neighborhood in Inglewood with a motorcycle officer trailing close behind.The chase ended when a rear tire on the Mustang started to come apart and the suspect was forced to flee on a shredded tire. Eventually, the suspect surrendered on the 91 Freeway in the Gardena area.The driver and a passenger were taken into custody. The pursuit lasted almost an hour.Authorities say they initially responded to a shoplifting call at a Target in Camarillo. That's when authorities say the suspect allegedly rammed a sheriff's patrol car and a chase began.
