Vincennes Woman Facing Five Counts of Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Murder
A 23-year-old Vincennes woman is facing five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Murder. 23-year-old Madalyn Dennis was arrested Wednesday in Lawrence County, Illinois concerning a shooting near the Autumn Ridge Apartments in Vincennes on Monday, July 22nd. Dennis is accused of driving the vehicle where the shots originated from.
VINCENNES SHOOTING SUSPECT
A Vincennes woman arrested here in Lawrence County this week is scheduled to appear in court next week. 23 year old Madalyn Dennis is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder in connection with a shooting at the Autumn Ridge Apartments earlier this week on Monday. Authorities say that an unidentified male subject was shot in the head while in his car, but was able to get to the hospital. Another vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene. Dennis was later apprehended here in Lawrence County Tuesday and transferred into Indiana custody. She was booked into the Knox County Indiana Jail and was being held on a $75,000 cash bond. Her initial hearing is set for Tuesday July 30th in Knox Circuit Court.
LOCAL ARRESTS
Two local residents were charged with Domestic Battery after their arrest Wednesday by Lawrenceville Police. Both 36 year old Donald Marshall Jr of Bridgeport and 26 year old Tiffany Marshall of Lawrenceville were booked into the Lawrence County Jail. Marshall Jr was also charged with Resisting Arrest. Both were being held in the jail pending detention hearings. St Francisville Police Wednesday took 29 year old Mikenze Valledor of St Francisville into custody on a charge of Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property. She was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and was later released with a notice to appear in court.
TATE COURT APPEARANCE
Former Lawrence County resident Ray Tate made another appearance Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court. The Hopkinsville Kentucky man appeared via Zoom from the Menard Correctional Center. The hearing concerned his motion to withdraw his guilty plea in the death of Wayne County Sheriffs Deputy Sean Riley in December of 2021. Tate originally pled guilty of the murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. However, while in prison, Tate has sought to withdraw his guilty plea and have his life sentenced vacated saying he was coerced into confessing to the killing and was mentally unfit to do so. The court allowed his efforts and now has set another court hearing on Friday August 23rd to allow Tate to formally withdraw his plea as part of the appeal process.
NEW UNIT #20 SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER
The Lawrence County Unit 20 School District Board of Education now has a new member. After an executive session during their regular monthly meeting Wednesday night at Lawrenceville High School, they emerged and appointed Shelby Shauf to the District 6 vacancy left by the recent resignation of Dana Goodwin. Schauf was selected from three candidates who were interested in the position. Also in a related move, the board elected Ron Waldrop as the board vice-president, a position previously held by Goodwin. Unit 20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty reported to the board that the online registration process for Unit 20 students for the new school year begins Thursday. STATE POLICE ARRESTS
Two people were recently arrested on charges here in Lawrence County by the Illinois State Police. 22 year old Sloane Kelly of Lawrenceville was picked up for DUI (Alcohol) and 56 year old Lucinda Reed of Decker Indiana was charged with DUI (Drugs). Both were taken to the Lawrence County Jail and later released with notices to appear in court.
LAWRENCE COUNTY ARRESTS
The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department (LCSD) made two weekend arrests. Saturday, 66 year old Elzie Aldridge of Lawrenceville was charged with Aggravated Assault and Unlawful Use of Weapons. No other arrest details were given in the report. Aldridge was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and was being held there pending a detention hearing. Sunday, the LCSD charged 39 year old John McDaniel of Lawrenceville with Domestic Battery. He was also booked into the Lawrence County Jail and was being held there pending a detention hearing.
AREA COUNTY FAIRS THIS WEEKEND
(SUMNER) The 2024 Lawrence County Junior Fair is winding down along U.S. Route 50, between Sumner & Bridgeport. A huge “thank you” to everyone that supported yesterday’s Youth Livestock Auction. The featured events on this Friday are the Power Wheels for Youth Derby tonight at 6:00 and Demo Derby action to wrap up the fair both tonight and tomorrow night at 7:00. Plenty of fair food, exhibits, and more in Lawrence County.
LAWRENCE COUNTY ARREST
The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department (LCSD) picked up a wanted local man Wednesday. Taken into custody was 57 year old Mark Richards of Lawrenceville on an out of state warrant. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and later released into custody after being held there.

The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department (LCSD) arrested a wanted Richland County woman early Tuesday morning. Taken into custody was 24 year old Aradia Thompson of Olney. She was wanted on a warrant for Failure to Appear in Court and was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. She was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and was being held there. The LCSD Tuesday arrested 30 year old Jared Lee of Lawrenceville on charges of Domestic Battery and Probation Violation. He was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and was being held there pending a detention hearing.
UNIT 20 PRE-K SCREENINGS
The Regional Office of Education #12 and Lawrence County Unit 20 have announced they will host Pre-K screenings coming up early next month. They will be held on Wednesday August 7th from 12 p.m. till 6 p.m. at Parkside Elementary School in Lawrenceville. All 3 and 4 year old children in the district are invited to be screened. The results of the screenings will be shared with parents or guardians. The children can than be placed in a preschool program or put on a waiting list for the 2024/2025 school year.
