Juneteenth Closings Announced
The Juneteenth holiday will be observed on Wednesday, June 19, and residents should be aware of closings. All state and federal government offices will be closed along with the US Postal Service, and offices of Lawrence County Government and the Cities of Lawrenceburg, Loretto and St. Joseph. Lawrenceburg residents are reminded that there will be no residential garbage pickup on Wednesday. Wednesday’s garbage routes will be picked up on Thursday.
LCSO Investigates Theft of Cows
THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING THE THEFT OF APPROXIMATELY 64 COWS. ACCORDING TO REPORTS, DEPUTIES SPOKE WITH THE COMPLAINANT ON SUNDAY WHO ADVISED HE WENT AND MADE THE DISCOVERY. ON THURSDAY THE OWNER COUNTED 199 HEAD OF CATTLE AND ON FRIDAY THEY ONLY COUNTED 135. NO BROKEN FENCES OR TRACKS FROM VEHICLES WERE SEEN ON THE 500 ACRE FARM THAT IS LOCATED OFF HIGHWAY 20 IN THE SUMMERTOWN AREA. THE CATTLE TAKEN SHOULD HAVE AN S3 BRAND MARK AND ESTIMATED LOSS 70,000 DOLLARS. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.

THE LAWRENCE COUNTY RIGHT TO LIFE IS FINALIZING PLANS FOR THEIR ANNUAL EVENT TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND. THE TN RIGHT TO LIFE CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD SUNDAY JUNE 23RD AT 2 AT UNITED CHURCH AT 716 SOUTH LOCUST AVENUE IN LAWRENCEBURG. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS WILL BE ALANNA HARRIS WHO WILL TALK ABOUT THE SAFE HAVEN BABY BOX. OTHER SPECIAL GUESTS INCLUDE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL ELECTED OFFICALS. Get Alarmed Blitz
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS MEMBERS OF LAWRENCE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE AND LAWRENCEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT HAVE PARTNERED WITH THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL’S “GET ALARMED” PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES SMOKE ALARMS TO HOMES IN TENNESSEE FOR FREE. THIS GRANT-FUNDED PROGRAM HAS BEEN PROVEN TO SAVE MANY LIVES. THE SMOKE ALARM BLITZ IS GOING ON NOW AND THIS YEAR IN WAKE OF THE FATAL FIRE IN LAWRENCE COUNTY, THE EVENT WILL BE IN MEMORY OF JACKSON WISSNER, ELIZABETH BROWN AND TRAVIS WISSNER, WHO DIED IN EARLY MAY AS A RESULT OF A HOME FIRE. THE GOAL OF THIS BLITZ IS TO SAVE LIVES BY PROVIDING WORKING SMOKE ALARMS TO RESIDENTS FREE OF CHARGE.
