KU women’s golf coach Lindsay Kuhle signs 3-year extension, plus more Jayhawks news

LAWRENCE — After leading the Kansas women’s golf program to back-to-back NCAA regional appearances, head coach Lindsay Kuhle has signed a three-year contract extension through the 2028-29 season.

Travis Goff, KU’s director of athletics, announced the news Monday. It’s a decision that reinforces the positive momentum the program has had since Kuhle took over ahead of the 2021-22 season. Kuhle’s base salary will be $180,000 the first two years of the amended contract and, over the course of the current deal, increase to $195,000 by the final year — not including incentives.

“Coach Kuhle has had a tremendous start to her Jayhawk career, and we couldn't be more excited about the incredible momentum of our women’s golf program under her leadership,” Goff said in a KU release. “She has been an ideal fit for our department and she and her family have immersed themselves in the Jayhawk and Lawrence communities. The program has already hit unprecedented heights both on the course and in the classroom, and we are thrilled to have her at the helm for years to come.”

Kuhle, who also praised the players and associate head coach Stephen Bidne, added in the KU release: ”I am truly grateful for this extension and thrilled to build on our recent success in the upcoming years. I personally want to thank Travis and (sport administrator) Nicole (Corcoran) for their belief in me and this program and their unwavering support since I've been here. Our success could not be possible without them.”

Kansas men’s basketball target Darius Acuff Jr. sets commitment date

Darius Acuff Jr., a 247Sports Composite five-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, revealed through a social media post on Instagram he will be announcing his commitment Friday. Acuff is considering a top three of Kansas, Arkansas and Michigan. Should Acuff commit to KU men’s basketball, he’d provide Jayhawks head coach Bill Self and company with the top point guard in the recruiting class and the No. 8 talent overall in the nation.

KU reveals 3-time Grammy Awards winner Nelly will headline 2024 Late Night in the Phog

KU’s Late Night in the Phog event is still a bit more than two months away, but according to a release the individual who will headline its musical act has been decided upon. Nelly, who’s won three times at the Grammy Awards, will be there Oct. 18 at Allen Fieldhouse. Late Night in the Phog is a preseason tip-off event for the Jayhawks’ men’s and women’s basketball programs.

Kansas volleyball releases 2024 non-conference schedule

Kansas volleyball’s non-conference portion of its 2024 regular season schedule is now available online, and it begins with a tournament at Duke from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. The Jayhawks will face South Carolina, Duke and Colgate during that stay, as they begin to prepare for a challenging Big 12 slate later this year that will last 18 matches. The non-conference schedule, which spans 10 matchups, also includes a tournament at Marquette from Sept. 6-7 and the Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence from Sept. 19-21.

Kansas swimming and diving releases 2024-25 schedule

Kansas swimming and diving’s 2024-25 regular season schedule is now available online, and starts in early October at home with the Sunflower Showdown. During the fall, the non-conference slate also includes a road meet later that month at Illinois and a Nov. 1 home meet against Nebraska. During the spring, the slate includes Big 12 Conference matchups like a Jan. 11 road meet at Houston and a Feb. 7 home meet against Iowa State.

“Our team is looking forward to getting back to competing in October,” Jayhawks head coach Clark Campbell said in a KU release. “Everything is geared towards peaking at the Big 12 Championship, and we have plenty of opportunities against strong competition that will have us ready in February.”

Kansas men's golf releases 2024-25 schedule

Kansas men’s golf’s 2024-25 regular season schedule is now available online, and split between the fall and the spring. The fall begins with a Sept. 9-11 event in the state of Michigan that’s hosted by Michigan State. The spring begins Feb. 17-19 with The Prestige event in the state of California.

“We’re very excited about our upcoming schedule,” Jayhawks head coach Jamie Bermel said in a KU release. “We are playing all over the country against great competition. Our goal every year is to play against the best teams on the most difficult golf courses, helping us prepare for the postseason where we want to be playing our best golf.”
