KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No injuries and very little damage was reported after a driverless semi rolled between two houses, striking one, Thursday afternoon in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Lawrence Police Department said the incident happened about 1:30 p.m. The semi rolled about 300 feet from W. 11th Street and Maine Street, through a 4-foot retaining wall, over a patio, between two houses and came to rest against a home’s foundation.

Body found in Smithville identified as missing Leavenworth man

The semi’s driver told police he had put the cab and trailer brakes on before leaving it, and once he saw it moving, he tried to catch up to it.

The trailer of the semi was empty and the fire department was on scene to extinguish a small fire caused by powerlines, according to police.

Police said one resident was home in the house that was not damaged.
