    VADOC conducts drug, contraband shakedown at Lawrenceville Correctional Center

    BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — On Friday, June 14, Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) conducted a drug and contraband shakedown at Lawrenceville Correctional Center.

    According to VADOC, correctional team members completed a drug and contraband shakedown at Lawrenceville Correctional Center to improve safety and security.

    During this operation, VADOC team members found:

    • Approximately 100 Buprenorphine strips
    • Three packages containing a powdery, white substance
    • Several pills
    • An unknown, powdery substance
    • Several mobile phones
    • Several phone charging blocks
    • Phone charging cords
    • An unrevealed amount of cash

    Lawrenceville Correctional Center is the only privately operated prison in Virginia, but VADOC will assume control of the facility by Aug. 1, 2024.

    The Virginia Department of Corrections said it will continually monitor contraband intake into each of its facilities. If anyone has any information, contact 540-830-9280.
