Bench trial date on permanent injunction set for Lowry/Lockport/Park lawsuit
CENTREVILLE — Miscommunication between the St. Joseph County courthouse and lawyers in a major local lawsuit led to a new date being set for a key part in the case. On Tuesday, St. Joseph County 45th Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman set a Tuesday, Sept. 3 date for a bench trial to determine if a permanent injunction can be issued in a lawsuit filed by Tom Lowry against Lockport and Park townships. Proceedings will begin at 8 a.m. on that day.
TR Library board to present written contract offer to Lockport
THREE RIVERS — The board of the Three Rivers Public Library will officially put a new offer before Lockport Township for a library services contract. On Tuesday, the board voted to extend to the township a written offer of $20,822.18 on its contract for the first year, with an increase of 3 percent every year for three years, with an option to terminate the contract six months prior to the end of the library’s fiscal year in June. There will also be a clause that gives the sides the option to renegotiate after three years.

THREE RIVERS — Firefighters were able to quickly put out a fire that occurred in Three Rivers Monday. According to the Three Rivers Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched early Monday morning to a two-story building in the 500 block of North Main Street, where the house showed smoke and fire coming from a first-floor apartment.
