LAYTON, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A man was arrested in Layton on Sunday after dressing in lacrosse gear, taunting dogs, and assaulting a person in Layton, all while under the influence of ecstasy, according to Layton Police .

Justin Ray Stillings, 22, was arrested in Davis County on aggravated assault (third-degree felony), criminal trespassing (class-B misdemeanor), and intoxication (class-C misdemeanor).

On July 7, Layton police officers received a report of a man, later identified as Stillings, walking on a public road, appearing to be under the influence, and “acting strange,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

Stillings was described as wearing lacrosse gear, and was reportedly seen “antagonizing dogs through a fence of a residence.” Officers then received reports that Stillings was attacking people.

Officers located Stillings shortly after and took him into custody while pointing a taser at him. Upon first contact, Stillings was holding a lacrosse stick and gesturing it in a threatening manner toward an officer, the affidavit states.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Stillings was walking through a neighborhood when he allegedly entered someone’s property after he was “given verbal notice not to enter.” Stillings then entered the property through a gate where “he was met with force of a guest at the home,” the affidavit states.

At this point, Stillings reportedly swung his lacrosse stick at the guest, striking them on the left side of their face and causing minor injury.

“The victim later stated that [Stillings] was acting very aggressively and was commanded to leave numerous times before entering on property that was not his,” the affidavit states. “The victim stated [Stillings’] behavior was erratic and wanted to keep the rest of the occupants of the home safe.”

The victim reportedly responded to the assault by punching Stillings in the face, causing injury.

Stillings was booked into Davis County Jail on the charges previously stated.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
