    Group allegedly launches fireworks into Layton crowd, police offering $500 reward for information

    LAYTON CITY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — The Layton City Police Department is offering a $500 reward in exchange for information regarding an Independence Day firework incident.

    On July 4, police say a group of at least 100 young people gathered around the vendors on Constitution Circle before making their way over to a crowd of people at the Layton High School soccer field.

    Police say several group members began “throwing lit fireworks into the crowd of people.” They did not disclose if anyone was injured in the incident.

    Authorities are seeking information on the suspects and are offering a $500 reward in exchange for information leading to at least one arrest. They have released an image of a potential suspect that a witness claimed was involved in the incident.

    “If you can help identify him or anyone else who was involved, please message us or call 801-497-8300 and reference incident number L24-17356,” the announcement read.
