Verizon to give away backpacks to Siouxlanders

LE MARS, Iowa (KCAU) — Round Room is giving away $3 million worth of free backpacks at its 12th Annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway event.

The Verizon-authorized retailer hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with back-to-school season.

In response to increased gun violence in the Siouxland area, select stores will have clear backpacks available to meet that school district’s requirements.

The event will be on Sunday, July 28 starting at 1 p.m. at 10 5th Ave NW in Le Mars.

This is a family-friendly activity where parents are expected to line up to receive a free backpack and participate. Many locations will have additional elements including dunk tanks, obstacle courses, product and service giveaways from other local businesses, and more.
