Montgomery Township couple perishes in house fire
Two Montgomery Township residents were killed in a house fire early Sunday morning. Roman Jindra, 76, and Betty Jindra, 73, were found in the kitchen area of a house on Jindra Lane in Montgomery Township around 1 a.m. Sunday, July 14. Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office dispatchers received a report of a structure fire at the house at 12:54 a.m. Betty Jindra called 911 and reported the house was on fire and she and Roman were trapped inside the residence, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.
Henderson man charged with injuring passenger after crashing motorcycle under the influence
A Henderson man is accused of crashing his motorcycle on Highway 169 while under the influence of alcohol and injuring a passenger. Joseph Edward Robling, 27, is charged with felony criminal vehicular operation for causing substantial bodily harm under the influence of alcohol, a gross misdemeanor third degree DWI, gross misdemeanor failure to notice of personal injury and three petty misdemeanors in relation to driving with an expired permit. In rural New Prague, Le Sueur County, an early morning operation carried out by the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force (CRDVOTF) led to the arrest of two individuals, Scott Diestler, 72, and James Becker, 59, for their alleged involvement in methamphetamine sales. The arrest occurred after agents conducted a detailed investigation and secured a search warrant for the suspects' residence at 18994 320th Street. On July 1, agents executed the search and apprehended both suspects on site.
