The Le Sueur Braves Town Team has been busy over the last couple of weeks. Now with a record of 6-3 with wins over Becker 3-1, Cannon Falls 14-12, Brownton 12-6 and bigtime rival Belle Plaine last Friday 5-4 in 11 innings.

The recent losses have come at the hands of 2 class B teams in Burnsville 3-11 and Victoria 6-9. The offense has been alive the last few games and adding in some solid pitching from Cayden Luna and Nathan Gregersen the Braves are sitting pretty good for Mid-June.

    Braves — 3, Becker — 1

Cole Pengilly celebrated his birthday with a solo home run blast to center field while Cayden Luna threw six innings of one run ball, giving up only three hits and carrying a no hitter into the sixth inning. Luna also recorded four strikeouts in the victory.

    Braves — 14, Cannon Falls — 12

In an unusual game, seven total errors allowed the Bears to stay in the contest. Cole Pengilly, Bryce Novak, and Burke Nesbit lead the offense with four hits apiece. Cayden Luna got the start but it was Nathan Gregersen coming into the game in the eighth to pitch that saved the day as Gregersen was able to shut down the Bears late game rally and record his first save of the season.

    Braves — 12, Brownton — 6

Cole Pengilly led the way with 4 hits and 6 RBIs and capped it off with a grandslam. Tyler Pengilly, who had been dealing with some back pain played well and had 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Cullen Bruce had 2 hits and 2 runs scored and Gregersen started the game, pitched 5 innings, recorded 6 strikeouts and the win in the process.

    Braves — 5, Belle Plaine — 4

It’s always fun when you can beat Belle Plaine and even better when you can do it on their homefield. There was some free baseball at Tiger Park as the game went 11 innings. The Braves leadoff hitter and center fielder led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run off of the scoreboard in left field. The home run tied the game at 3-3. In the top of the 11th with Nesbit on third, Mitch Casperson hit a shallow sac fly to left field to get the go ahead run for the local nine. In the effort Gregersen started on the mound and threw eight innings with Novak coming in the ninth and throwing three innings, picking up his first Braves win as a pitcher. Tristen O’Brien led the way with three hits.

    Braves — 10, St. Peter — 6

The Braves had the offense rolling vs the Saints. 14 total hits with three coming from Cole Pengilly and three coming from Ethan Hathaway who made his Braves debut going 3-3 with an RBI. Cayden Luna started on the mound and threw five innings of one run ball. Bruce came in and threw two and a third innings, during which time the Saints scored five runs before Nesbit came in and shut the Saints rally down.
