Titans battle in St. Peter Invitational

Saturday morning, the Tri-City United/Le Sueur-Henderson swim and dive team traveled to St. Peter to compete in an invitational hosted by the Saints. With a handful of top finishes sprinkled throughout the meet, TCU claimed fifth in the invite with 104 points.

The diving competition took place first thing in the morning, separate from the rest of the meet and Lily Traxler earned fourth in the competition with a total of 244.65 points, trailing just a pair of Owatonna divers and Waconia’s Hazel Lyons who outscored her by just 2.85 points.

The swimming portion of the day began with 200 yard medley relay which saw the team of Kendra Westphal, Ella Schmiesing, Kaylee Rezac and McKenna Fredrickson claim fourth with a time of 2:11.50. Schmiesing then went on to win the 50 freestyle race with a time of 25.12, a full 1.74 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Rezac competed in the 500 freestyle race and finished seventh with a time of 6:33.20 and Westphall claimed 10th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:17.91. Schmiesing picked up her second victory of the day in the 100 breaststroke which she won win a time of 1:11.44, 6.61 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

In the 400 freestyle relace race, the team of Westphal, Rezac, Fredrickson and Schmiesing claimed fifth with a time of 4:18.41, closing out the competition on a solid note.

TCU/LS-H is scheduled to return to the pool Tuesday Oct. 1, when the team travels to Red Wing Twin Bluff Middle School for a meet hosted by the Wingers. Events are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
