Friday night, the Tri-City United football team made the trip to Albert Lea to take on the Tigers in a divisional showdown. The Titans led almost the entire game and got good contributions on both sides of the ball all night, but a Tiger touchdown with 45 seconds to go gave them a lead they would hold until the final horn sounded, defeating TCU 27-19.

“This game was a gut punch to lose after leading most of the game,” said Titan head coach Matt Collins. “We made a lot of big plays and had Albert Lea behind the sticks offensively most of the night, but unfortunately, they made the plays that counted at the end.”

Kellen Jirik threw for 103 yards and a touchdown in the game while adding a rushing touchdown. Jacob Neubauer notched 60 receiving yards while rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown. Parker O’Malley tallied 38 receiving yards with a touchdown as well.

On the defensive side of the ball, Dylan Fink recorded 13 tackles including a sack, a tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery. Nathan Blaschko added 10 tackles and a sack with Gavin Sherman adding nine tackles.

Things don’t get much easier for the Titans as they host the Waseca Bluejays Friday night for homecoming. The Bluejays enter the contest with a record of 4-1, coming off a 38-21 victory over Jordan. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
