Kimberly Worthen is letting her creative spirit shine. For years, the Le Sueur mother of four has had an eye for crafting.

Whether it’s intricately placing rhinestones to form colorful, feather-shaped diamond bookmarks, decorating tumblers with her own original designs or creating glow-in-the-dark cups with custom decals, Worthen has spent many a night at home turning ordinary household objects into something special.

In the past, Worthen stuck to sharing her crafts with friends and family, believing that other people wouldn’t be interested in her homemade art. But starting this summer, Worthen made the leap to share her creations with the world by launching her own business, K. K.’s Crazy Creations.

“Friends are always telling me Kim, you need to show what you do,” said Worthen. “So my friends and family were the inspiration.”

Now, Worthen can be found selling glitter cups for kids, beaded pins, and custom adult-sized cups as one of the newest vendors at the Le Sueur Family Night at the Market. Back for its fourth year at American Legion Park, the Family Night at the Market is bringing a wide variety of vendors and activities to the community every Wednesday night between 4 to 7 p.m. through the end of August.

Each week, the Family Night at the Market is featuring a varying mix of vendors selling home decor and goods, food, clothing, toys, paintings and more. While the size of the market is small, with around eight vendors currently participating, Family Night at the Market distinguishes itself from other vendor fairs with a rotating list of activities and events.

Organizers have kept the market fresh with bingo nights featuring a different set of prizes week to week. Family Night at the Market ushered in their first bingo night of the season on June 12 giving winners the opportunity to take home a bag or purse, while the following week those who scored a bingo could collect a new necklace or set of earrings.

Throughout the summer, the Family Night at the Market is also hosting special events like the Bubble Fun and Food night on July 10 in which the first 48 kids will receive a free bubble wand to enjoy a popping night in the park. The market is also gearing up for their annual Christmas in July event featuring an appearance from Santa Claus himself on July 31 and their Back to School Backpack giveaway in August. Every Wednesday night in July, organizers are asking members of the public to come and donate school supplies to help fill 25 backpacks, which kids can will have a chance to win by signing up for a drawing.

”We’re trying to get people in the town a lot of their families to come out for fun games and of course look at all the vendors,” said Family Night at the Market Committee member Amy Boyd.

For three years, Boyd has been satisfying the taste buds of market attendees by cooking up egg rolls and serving homemade dessert bars, cookies and pie under the banner of Amy’s Kitchen. For her, the Family Night at the Market has been an opportunity to bring joy to others with her cooking and she hopes other vendors could get the same experience by applying to join the market.

”We want the community to come out,” said Boyd. “We don’t want other people to go elsewhere. Come hang out with us and see what we’re doing.”
