Teens lead deputies on high-speed chase
HOBBS, N.M. — Two teens led Lea County deputies on a high-speed chase in a stolen truck, eventually tossing a gun that got into the hands of a 5-year-old. On July 6, deputies say they saw a black Ford Dually doing donuts in a parking lot and eventually started driving recklessly. According to the criminal complaint, a deputy tried to make a traffic stop but was unsuccessful, leading into a chase throughout Hobbs. The court documents noting the truck eventually reached over 100 mph.
