CHIPPEWA FALLS — A 14-year-old girl has suffered serious injuries after being involved in a crash on an E-scooter on Sunday, said Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes.

The crash occurred at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday on 170th Street, south of Highway 178 in Chippewa Falls, Hakes wrote in a press release.

The girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

“The operator lost control of the scooter and struck her head on the pavement,” Hakes wrote. “The operator sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. Anson and Eagle Point Fire and first responders along with Chippewa Falls Ambulance responded to the scene and provide medical treatment. Mayo One helicopter responded and the operator was transported to a Twin Cities area hospital for medical treatment. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
