    Men's soccer draws with Simpson

    INDIANOLA, IOWA — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s soccer team tied Simpson College 2-2 on Sunday at Bill Buxton Stadium. The 13th-ranked Blugolds held two leads in the contest, but the Storm were able to answer each time to ensure the game would end in a tie.

    HOW IT HAPPENEDSenior Nathan Donovan opened the Blugolds’ account by converting a penalty kick into the opening goal in the 28th minute. It was his 16th goal of the campaign and fifth from the penalty spot.

    Simpson evened the score with a goal of its own in the 42nd minute, but UW-Eau Claire again went in front when junior Carson Kowalski scored in the 56th minute. Sophomore Noah Malcook and freshman Tate McDermott assisted.

    The Storm tied the game for good with the game’s final goal in the 75th minute.

    The Blugolds (9-1-3) held a 12-7 advantage in shots and led 5-4 in shots on target.

    The draw ran UW-Eau Claire’s unbeaten streak to four games.

    UP NEXTUW-Eau Claire will be back at home for its next contest. The Blugolds host Carroll University on Wednesday at Simpson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
