Marques Houston, Keith Sweat and Veronica Bozeman Lead Star-Studded Cast for New Musical Drama 'Howard High'

In honor of Black History Month, Tubi, FOX Entertainment's free streaming service, will offer more than 1,400 Black Cinema titles for viewing, in celebration of Black voices, stories, culture and triumphs. In addition to award-winning titles such as "I Am Not Your Negro" and "Sorry to Bother You", Tubi will unveil original programming ranging from the two-hour documentary "Pass the Mic", which spotlights the careers of Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Kendrick Lamar, to an all-new musical drama entitled "Howard High", set to premiere on Friday, February 4.

Generating quite the buzz, Howard High depicts life's realities for students in a high school musical group. With the looming threat of underfunding and losing its arts program, Howard High students square off against their rival in order to save the day. While artfully entertaining, the Tubi Original drama highlights the social and cultural issues that often plague students and families who reside in underfunded neighborhoods.

"My business partner and I, Chris Stokes, came up with Howard High because we felt like it was a story that needed to be told," said Marques Houston, Executive Producer for the movie and Michael Kirsch in the film. "Many inner city kids really miss out on the opportunity to showcase their talent due to budget cuts, and the first thing that goes is the performing arts programs. We felt like it was important to raise awareness [regarding] the music that's missing in the schools."

Featuring an ensemble cast from Keith Sweat to Veronica Bozeman to Chrissy Stokes, Howard High charts the highs and lows of the prototypical high school experience, spotlighting love, friendships and the weighted dynamics centering the power of choice.

"I'm very connected and familiar with the spirit of this story. I went to Crenshaw High and that's where I [received] a lot of my training when it comes to the music industry," GRAMMY nominated artist Veronika Bozeman added, who also stars in the movie. "We faced a lot of challenges, just like the storyline depicts in Howard High. We had so many instances where our music program could have been shut down, but [it was] the talent, the drive, the determination, and the leadership of our musical director that pushed us through."

Howard High premieres on Tubi February 4, along with the original soundtrack that will drop simultaneously on digital platforms.

"Marques Houston and Chris Stokes are making movies like this to show the younger generation," said Keith Sweat, the Godfather of R&B, and Emit Turner in the film. "It actually gives them something to look forward to because it's true and real. Howard High is the reality of what's really going on out here."

Howard High joins a wealth of other Black Cinema titles on Tubi streaming all month long in honor of Black History Month. Fox's free streaming service boasts well over 35,000 titles, available for free, with no subscription needed.
