Manlius, NY - The Manlius Town Board has decided it won’t pursue buying a parcel of land for $2.8 million for a new town hall. Manlius Town Supervisor John Deer initially wanted to sign a purchase agreement for the eight-acre parcel on North Burdick Street, and then analyze whether it would be a workable site. The deal, he has said, would allow the town to withdraw from the agreement.

Turner is co-director of the Mississippi Center for Cultural Production in the town of Utica, population 600, where his family has lived for eight generations. The organization, better known as Sipp Culture, is helping breathe life into a region that’s seen schools, grocery stores, and factories shutter or leave. LINCOLN, N.Y. (AP) — A woman was killed and a man was injured when their upstate New York house exploded, authorities said. The house exploded just after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the town of Lincoln in Madison County. Crews from several police and fire departments arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman trapped in debris, said Samantha Field, a spokesperson for the county. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was airlifted to a hospital, she said. The man’s condition wasn’t immediately released.
