Publix Super Market Charities gave a $175,000 grant to Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties to help the organization build affordable homes.

As part of Habitat’s mission, the grant will directly support its Affordable Homeownership Program, which builds new and rehabilitates existing homes and sells them to low-income earning families through an affordable mortgage.

Along with its financial gift, Publix associates volunteered to raise the walls on two homes in Habitat for Humanity’s newest neighborhood, McNeill Village.

“The unwavering support of Publix Super Market Charities and Publix associates is truly inspiring,” said Charles Padhaisky, donor advancement specialist at Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties. “This generous grant and the hands-on volunteer support not only signifies a profound commitment to addressing the need for affordable housing but also reflects the power of collaboration in building hope and transforming lives in our community.”

Helping to empower Lee County families through affordable homeownership since 1996, Publix Super Market Charities has donated over $1.3 million to Habitat Lee and Hendry, and in 2024 alone, Publix associates donated 225 volunteer hours offering a hand up to neighbors in their community.

“We’re committed to helping individuals and families find the support they need to achieve the stability and independence that comes from having a place to call their own,” said PSMC Executive Director John Doran. “We’re honored to continue our support of organizations like Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties who are focused on housing and the well-being of our communities.” ¦
