Gym chain shuttering Fort Myers, Cape Coral locations, cutting 108 jobs
The New York Sports Club is shutting down three Lee County gyms and will lay off more than 100 employees. The chain notified the state of its intentions in a letter Monday stating that the closings would be effective Sept. 1. Employees have been notified that all the layoffs are permanent.

New York Sports Club will close three Lee County Around the Clock Fitness locations Sept. 1 and will lay off more than 100 employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the state. The locations are at 9375 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Unit 210, in Fort Myers, 1755 Boy Scout Drive in Fort Myers and 1140 Ceitus Terrace, Unit 8, in Cape Coral. The Six Mile and Boy Scout fitness club locations were sold to Crunch Fitness, and the Cape Coral gym is being closed without a buyer, the notice states.
