LEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a recent home invasion and armed robbery in Lee.

According to the Berkshire County DA’s Office, on Tuesday, June 25, around 4 p.m., Lee police were called to a residence on the Main Street corridor. Upon arrival, officers found the victim inside the home. The suspects had left the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived.

Initial investigations indicated that multiple individuals were involved in the armed robbery, with evidence suggesting that the perpetrators were targeting specific items. Authorities confirmed that one of the perpetrators was known to the victim, ruling out the possibility of a random attack. No physical injuries were reported.

Arrest warrants were quickly issued for two suspects: K’Aunte Carnute , 23, of Pittsfield, and a juvenile whose identity has not been disclosed. The Pittsfield Police Department apprehended Carnute and the juvenile on Wednesday, June 26, and Thursday, June 27.

K’Aunte Carnute faces several charges, including:

    • Home Invasion
    • Armed Robbery (Firearm)
    • Witness Intimidation

Carnute was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court Thursday, for probation violation related to his May 6, 2024, convictions for assault and battery, assault and battery on a family or household member, and possession of a Class D substance. Carnute is currently held without bail at the Berkshire House of Corrections and is scheduled to be arraigned for the new charges in Southern Berkshire District Court on Monday, July 1st.
