Cranberry board updated on how state budget affected district funds
During Monday’s board meeting, Cranberry School District business manager Karen Rupert updated the board on the 2024-25 state budget’s impact on the district. The district’s budget, adopted before the state finalized its budget, saw a 1.7% increase in basic education funding and a 5% increase in special education funding. Additional funds for the Ready to Learn program may be used for class size reduction. However, Rupert expressed disappointment with the $52,000 reimbursement for cyber schools, far short of the expected $600,000. The district also received funds for school safety. Additionally, the board approved a four-year contract with the Cranberry Area Education Support Professional Association, which includes pay raises and increased health care contributions, aiming to improve employee recruitment.
