AUGUSTA Maine (WABI) - Those around Augusta had the opportunity to get some knowledge from the experts at Inland Fish and Wildlife’s End of Summer Outdoor Skills Day. “There’s still plenty of time left to enjoy the outdoors, and we’re heading into the best fishing season. My favorite is the fall fly fishing season, and we’re heading right into hunting season. So, bear baiting has started. We have fall expanded archery, rifle season, which leads us right into winter ice fishing. So, we’re getting folks excited about that,” said Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Education and Outreach Coordinator, Chelsea Lathrop.

Collision between pickup truck, lawn mower causes street detours, call to reconstructionist
THOMASTON — Traffic along Route 1 through Thomaston has been diverted down side streets this afternoon while Thomaston Police wait for a crash reconstructionist to arrive. Whenever a motor vehicle incident results in a serious injury, law enforcement agents are required to inform a State reconstructionist of that incident. Because no local reconstructionist could be obtained, Thomaston PD is relying on the assistance of someone out of Lincoln County.

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Joshua Chamberlain is perhaps, Maine's favorite son. A hero of the Battle of Gettysburg, his 20th Maine regiment helped turn the tide of the Civil War. At the Joshua Chamberlain Museum in Brunswick, curators with the Pejepscot History Center maintain the general's home, where he and his family lived during the war and after, as he became president of nearby Bowdoin College before successfully running for governor.

Rockland Public Library seeks submissions for Tiny Art Show
ROCKLAND — Rockland Public Library invites local community members to share their artistic talents. The Library is seeking submissions for a Tiny Art Show. Artists ages 14 years and older can pick up a tiny art kit starting Monday, Sept. 9 through Thursday, Sept. 25 (or while supplies last). Participants can choose a painting kit that includes a 3″x3″ canvas and easel, acrylic paints, and brushes or sculpture kit with air-dry clay, brushes, and acrylic paints. Adding to the provided supplies is encouraged as long as everything fits on the tiny canvas and the sculpture doesn’t get too big.
