Older Husband and Working Wife Seek Guidance
I am 74 years old, retired and receiving Social Security. My wife will be 65 in January of 2025. Our hope was to start paying off some credit card expense by her receiving SS when she turns 65, however it appears there would be a substantial reduction to her benefits. Her work income is $37,500 a year, and she wasn’t planning on retiring from work at age 65. Because I am 11 years older, we felt it makes sense to use her Social Security as a means to lower our debt. We have $27,000 in credit card debt, and I don’t really want to use my 401(k) funds due to taxes. We pretty much live on my Social Security and pension. Signed: Seeking Suggestions.

Will Caitlin Clark do okay in the WNBA?
Caitlin Clark will do great in the WNBA. She can shoot, she can pass and she’s a savvy player. Clark did what no one ever dreamed anyone would do and that was to score more points than Pistol Pete Maravich who played for LSU from 1967 – 1970. Maravich scored 3667 total points at LSU and averaged 42.2 points per game for the tigers.
Can I Claim Social Security and Still Work?
I will be turning 63 soon. Can I apply for Social Security and continue to work? Would I be limited to how many hours or how much I could make? I know my monthly SS amount would be cut by 30%, or somewhere around there, but how would working affect me? I was trying to read up on this, but the $1 and $2 thing confused me. I have an offer to take a work-at-home position and need to decide soon, but it is a cut in income. The cut would be okay if I could draw my Social Security too. Signed: Wanting Work at Home.
THE CLEANEST SHIRT IN THE DIRTY SHIRT PILE
Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”. We seem to be hearing a lot about making decisions and choices. Basically, those are one and the same. At times they can be changed and at times they cannot. A decision could be concerning what to believe while a choice might entail a course of action.
Did you Know
Did you know that a very busy hurricane season is predicted for this year?. Every year, the Colorado State University’s tropical meteorological project team forecasts the upcoming hurricane season. For this year, they are predicting 23 storms, 11 of which will become hurricanes and five that will reach a category 3 or stronger.
Did you Know?
Did you know that Florida’s overall death from overdoses dropped, but some lethal drugs are on the rise?. In 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis implemented programs in 12 counties to lower Fentanyl deaths. Those counties witnessed a drop in overdose deaths, but all the remaining counties outside the twelve, seen an actual increase.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – Movie Review
“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is really a tale of two movies. No, not a Godzilla movie and a King Kong movie, rather a movie that follows the human characters and a movie that follows what the movie calls “Titans.” The human portion is terrible, as is the human contribution to all American Godzilla movies (and I specify “American” because the human element in the recent Japanese installment “Godzilla Minus One” made it one of the best kaiju movies ever made). But the Titan portion makes for one of the best movies of the year.
Stop the invasion of our nation
If President Biden could announce on November 1, 2024, that all student debt is forgiven, he would do so. That would surely be a way to get a few more votes. If you have a $100,000 student loan, then you have a heavy burden of paying back that loan. To suddenly have the debt cleared would be a marvelous feeling.
EASTER: THE CRUCIFIXION
Matthew 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, they parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. Many fear we have heard said, “Christ dies for our sins,” to the...
When Should We Claim Social Security?
I am almost 63 and my husband will be 61 soon, and we are looking to see when our best time would be to start our Social Security benefits. We would like to know if one of us qualifies for benefits from a previous marriage from 1984 to 1995. And we are wondering if I can start drawing at age 65, in two years, or if it is better that I wait until 67 because my spouse is 2 years younger than me. Also, if I were to continue working limited hours after 65, what would my earning limit be? Signed: Almost Ready.
Did you Know?
Did you know that the Florida Supreme Court may soon give their decision whether allowing abortion and marijuana use on the ballot this coming Election Day?. In April of 2023, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a six-week abortion ban into law. There was a signature drive by leftist political groups who demanded the law be overturned by a majority of voters this Election Day. The Florida Supreme Court however has intervened after Florida Attorney General Ashly Moody submitted a law suit as to the Constitutionality of such a vote to take place.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – Movie Review
What has happened to the “Ghostbusters” movie franchise? For over a quarter century Hollywood resisted the temptation to spoil the one-two punch of the 1984 comedy classic and its decent-enough 1989 sequel. Then there came the 2016 reboot, which was controversial for its female cast, and the controversy is all anyone remembers. The 2021 legacy sequel didn’t always nail its humor, but there were some charming new characters and a nice kick of nostalgia at the end. But now with “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” this once-mighty property has officially become, well, a ghost of its former self.
Gain Some Control Over Your Life
Feeling like you have some control over your life is vital for life happiness. Control is not always easy. It takes planning, sacrifice, work and good fortune. Lots of things can happen in life that will shake the earth beneath our feet. Illness, weather disaster, a bad accident, and stupid mistakes. We are all vulnerable to any and all of these.
Unlike Florida, California Law Prohibits Law Enforcement from Posting Suspect Photos on Social Media
In another example of why California is completely different than Florida (it is!), California law restricts what police can post on their social media accounts. If you live in Florida and spend any time on social media, you’ve seen accounts like Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, or Sheriff Grady Judd from Polk County, posting pictures of arrests and wanted fugitives. Their social media accounts even mix in humor and local culture into their accounts. Like this one from this morning.
THE VEIL OF THE TEMPLE
Matthew 27: 51-53 “And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent. The graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”
Veterans Uncertain About Social Security and Healthcare Coverage
I’m not sure what I should sign up for in terms of Social Security: I am 64 and I am still employed full time and intend to stay employed until age 70. I am retired from the Navy and receive military retirement payments, and have military TriCare, as well as medical, dental, eye and life insurance through my employer. I don’t want to lose benefits, but I also don’t want to take Social Security until it reaches the maximum at age 70 (I think that is correct?). I will turn 65 in 4 months. Can you advise me? Signed: Uncertain Veteran.
