Did I miss mention of the father of this precious child? Maybe he’s stable enough to take his child? Before you do anything with your daughter. Get legal custody of your grandchild. As it sits right now. Your daughter could pack up and leave. Granddaughter and all. There’s nothing to stop her. Even if it’s not in the best interest of the child. Seen this happen before. It’s heartbreaking for the child and the grandparent.

Either do it fully or don’t. I have a lot of concerns with this grandmother. It sounds like her daughter has mental health issues that have never been addressed. The poor work history, difficulty getting things done, and all those bad life choices, yep she needs treatment. I would recommend it for the little girl starting immediately. “ My granddaughter prefers me in every way.” IMO this woman doesn’t grasp that her daughter most likely is mentally ill, she sees her as a loser and I bet treats her like one. Grandma doesn’t like childrens tv shows? This is the complaint? Neither of these mothers seems to truly want to commit to parenting this child. Unfortunately, she is at tremendous risk just being alive bc there’s no maternal instinct from either of these women. The children always suffer for it. PS grandma you raised your daughter, and who she is is a direct reflection of you. I would give your daughter some grace, She had you as a mother.
