The Nebraska basketball team is now in the final five schools for a four-star center from the class of 2025. Tommy Ahneman announced he is down to five schools before entering his senior year of high school, with Nebraska in the mix. The 6-foot-10 center is playing his senior season at Cretin Derham Hall in Saint Paul, Minnesota, after playing for West Fargo Sheyenne. New hotel proposed at GI City Council meeting
Grand Island, Neb. — Paul Younes is looking to expand his hotel prowess into Grand Island. At Tuesday night's Grand Island City Council meeting, a redevelopment resolution was proposed to add a hotel and restaurant to the northwest corner of Husker Highway and Prairieview Street in the southwest part of the city, caddy-corner from the regional medical center.

Pickup goes out-of-control on Perkins Street, missing three people at picnic shelter
BEATRICE -- Beatrice Police and fire officials were sent to the scene of a bizarre accident just south of the downtown area. It happened when a roofing company pickup turning from South Fifth to travel east on Perkins went out of control. The truck ended up colliding with a picnic shelter at Gage County Foundation Park, narrowly missing three people sitting there. Police Sergeant Wes Henning says the accident involved a total of four vehicles.
