LEIPSIC — A Deshler woman was shot and killed near here Thursday afternoon and another man injured by a suspect that fled the scene, but was later arrested.

According to a press release issued by Putnam County Sheriff Brian Siefker, Farrah Croninger, 30, was found deceased by authorities while Michael Kitchen, 54, Ottawa, also was injured during the shooting at 6302 Pro Tec Parkway (Putnam County Road 5).

He was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, but the press release issued at 11:25 p.m. Thursday stated that the “severity of injuries is unknown at this time.”

The suspect, Konner Dunklee, 26, Lima, fled the scene, but he was arrested in Allen County and taken to the Putnam County Adult Detention Center in Ottawa.

Dunklee has been charged in Putnam County Municipal Court with aggravated murder, an unclassified felony; murder, an unclassified felony; and attempted murder, a first-degree felony.

He appeared in court Friday morning from jail via video. Bond was set at $1 million cash or surety and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. next Friday in municipal court.

(Such a hearing only determines whether there is probable cause to hold a defendant on a felony charge in lieu of a grand jury indictment. Felony cases cannot be adjudicated in a municipal court.)

Dunklee was represented by attorney Drew Mihalik during Friday morning’s initial hearing.

The above address corresponds to Kitchen Family Trucking, according to a Google search. The business is located southeast of Leipsic.

According to one local law enforcement officer, Dunklee had formerly worked at the location where the shooting took place.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Leipsic Police Department, Leipsic EMS, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification, the FBI, the Multi-Area Narcotics Unit based in Defiance, the Ohio Highway Patrol, sheriffs offices from Allen, Henry and Paulding counties, and numerous other Putnam County agencies.

An attempt to contact Siefker for further information Friday was unsuccessful.

    The case remains under investigation.

The press release noted that authorities were summoned to the scene when the county’s 911 center took several calls “of shots being fired” at the location.
