Kids ages 8 and up fought from noon to 9 p.m. in exhibition bouts during the third annual Ohio’s Best Boxers event. Organized by a collaboration between Soul City Gym and the True Church of God-Apostolic, 2146 N. 12th St., the event focuses on anti-violence and community involvement. “It gives them a way to release stress,” said Roshawn Jones, a co-founder and coach at Soul City Gym. Lasting freshness: Toledo GROWs Urban Farm to host four harvest dinners
The Harvest Dinner series, hosted by Toledo GROWs, are exactly what they sound like: farm-to-table meals made by local chefs that utilize just-harvested produce. This year, the organization is hosting four dinners in partnership with The Garden by Poco Piatti (on Tuesday), Bellwether at Toledo Spirits (Sept. 16), at Toledo GROWs Urban Farm, 900 Oneida St., with Chef Cynthia Bunch (Sept. 26), and Souk Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar (Oct.7). A Harvest Brunch is set for Oct. 19 at Toledo GROWs’ farm with a brunch buffet by Chef Pam Weirauch featuring her specialty pumpkin “Pamcakes,” and of course fresh produce from Toledo GROWs. “The idea behind using fresh produce from the farm at these dinners is to help people understand how much better fresh produce that’s been harvested in the last couple of days tastes,” said Yvonne Dubielak, executive director of Toledo GROWs. “If it’s in season, especially, that will help [guests] understand that you can make beautiful dishes with whatever you have.”

The PaSean Way: Wimberly's impact substantial for BGSU football
BOWLING GREEN — “The PaSean Way” has become a way of life for Bowling Green State University’s football program. It shows just how much one player can impact an entire team. The rallying cry, named after BGSU senior running back and 2019 Whitmer High School graduate PaSean Wimberly, has been something that Falcons’ coach Scot Loeffler has used frequently with his team. What does it mean, according to the man himself? “I would say playing ‘The PaSean Way’ is basically having the grit and attitude on the field, giving your all, 100 percent, because that’s what I did to earn my scholarship a couple years ago,” Wimberly said. “I just gave it all, whether I was given a scout rep, a first-team rep, whatever it was.
