California's Rising Gas Prices: AAA Study Reveals Highest Rates

    2024-03-18

Gas prices are increasing all over the country, but California is the most expensive place to buy gas. Last week, the average gas price across the U.S. was $3.39 per gallon. But in California, the prices are much higher than that.

A new AAA study says that California has the highest gas prices in the United States. The prices in California are $1.47 more per gallon than the average price in the country.

The national average gas price has increased by 25 cents compared to a month ago, but it's still 2 cents lower than last year.

AAA says that as spring comes, more people start driving, so the demand for gas goes up. This happens every year and makes prices rise.

The main reason gas is getting more expensive is because oil costs are rising. Oil costs about $80 per barrel, $10 more than a few months ago.

The government also says that more people are buying gas now. In one week, the amount of gas bought went up from 8.47 million barrels to 9.01 million.

California had some of the biggest increases in gas prices during the study's time period. Other states with big increases were Ohio, Missouri, and Kansas.

The states with the most expensive gas overall were California, Hawaii, Washington, and Nevada.
