LeBron's Outback Date Spot Shuts as 40+ Stores Close Across California

    2024-03-19

A recent WBTV report reveals the closure of Outback Steakhouse locations across the US, deeply affecting fans, including LA Lakers' LeBron James. The shutdown is personal for LeBron, as he and his wife Savannah had their first date at one of these restaurants, making its closure particularly poignant.

Bloomin' Brands, Outback's parent company, has decided to close over 40 underperforming outlets including restaruants in California. The closure of a local location, significant to the James family, prompted emotional reactions from both LeBron and Savannah on social media. This move by Bloomin' Brands marks a challenging period as it discontinues operations in several areas, highlighting the closures' impact on communities and individuals.

The shutdowns evoke sentimental reminiscences for numerous people, signifying a significant shift. Although a comprehensive catalog of the closed locations has not been released, Nation’s Restaurant News reports that 33 establishments ceased operations right after the announcement, leaving some uncertainty about additional shutdowns that may have occurred earlier in the year.

The affected Outback Steakhouse locations in California include those in Buena Park, Norwalk, Arcadia, San Marcos, Brea, Foothill Ranch, Burbank, and Newhall.
