Area Fourth of July Celebrations are Open to the Public
The area will be full of fireworks celebrations on the Fourth of July. Starting in Buffalo Center where the Fire Department will have a display scheduled to begin at dusk or 9:30pm at Bison Field. The public is invited to attend the event. The celebration is a result of the money donated at Easter during the annual Pancake Day breakfast.

Resident of Klemme places high in venture school competition
Caleb Renner of Klemme took home 3rd place at the 2024 University of Iowa’s Venture School Launch Day held last month. 10 teams from across the state of Iowa competed in the event which was held at EntreFEST, a two-day entrepreneurial conference in Cedar Rapids. A total of 37-thousand dollars in prize money was awarded.

Milford, IA (KICD) — The Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary Sewer system is still at capacity. CEO Steve Anderson says they’ve finally pinpointed a problem on the West and Northwest side of West Lake. Anderson is asking homeowners to prevent their flooded houses from emptying into the sanitary sewer.
Cedar Rapids Firefighter Injured After 30-Foot Fall
(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids firefighter is in the hospital after falling 30-feet while fighting a fire. Crews were called to the former Diamond V Mills site at 436 G Avenue NW this (Friday) morning. The Department says when fire crews arrived, people were seen evacuating the building. The city boarded up the building a couple of weeks ago. The firefighter has serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Iowa City man arrested after reported series of UIHC assaults
An Iowa City man was charged with assault after three alleged attacks while being treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. According to police, 19-year-old Joshua Logan of the Ability United Group Home on Plainview Drive was at the facility on April 24th around 5pm when he allegedly hit a health care provider several times and pulled them down to the ground by the hair. Logan also kicked the provider multiple times. The victim suffered several cuts, broken fingernails, and bruising.
