Police: Homeless man arrested after carjacking, assaulting woman in Waveland
WAVELAND, Miss. (WLOX) - Thursday, the Waveland Police Department announced the arrest of 24-year-old Taye Thomas-Troy Dufrene after the investigation of a carjacking. The incident took place around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, which is when investigators say a woman was approached by Dufrene in the parking lot of Wal-Mart and asked her for a ride, offering money in return. She agreed, and as the woman drove into the area of Avenue B and Coral Street, Dufrene began punching her in the face and said he would kill her if she didn’t get out of the car. She complied, and Dufrene drove off in the vehicle.

JACKSON, Miss. | FCS Football Central releases its Preseason All-American Team featuring four student-athletes from HBCUs all from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Jackson State punter Matt Noll was named Second Team All-American after he earned Preseason First Team All-Conference honors on Tuesday. He finished the year recording 34 punts for 1,507 yards. He averaged 44.3 yards per punt and recorded a season-high 65-yard punt. He finished the season with three touchbacks and a pair of fair catches.
