Focus Shifts To Repairs At Courthouse
WATER VALLEY – The response to a massive flooding incident at the Water Valley courthouse has shifted from cleanup to making repairs. After a week of using heaters, dehumidifiers and fans to remove water and moisture from the building, the focus is now on fixing portions of the building that were damaged. The flooding occurred late on July 4 or during the early morning hours on July 5 when a second-floor waterline detached from a fitting, dumping thousands of gallons of water into the historic building.

Mississippi high school athlete killed after being struck by vehicle in Pennsylvania
YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WTVA) – A Mississippi teen is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Pennsylvania. According to the York County Coroner’s Office, Quinterrion Smith, 17, was visiting Springettsbury Township, Pennsylvania with his basketball team on July 11, when he was hit by a car while crossing North Hills Road with his friends.
DMI receives Mississippi Arts Commission grant
CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta Music Institute at Delta State University has been awarded a $4,250 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC). This grant is a portion of the more than $1.7 million in grants MAC awarded in Fiscal Year 2025 and will be used to fund the annual DMI Summer Camp, a five-day interactive experience for high school students ages 15-18 exploring three entertainment industry career tracks.
