    1 dead after hit-and-run involving Kia in Kings County

    HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 38-year-old Lemoore man is dead after a hit-and-run involving a Kia that was abandoned nearby, officers say.

    Hanford-area CHP says they were called to Kent Avenue, near 16th Avenue, Wednesday just before 4:00 a.m. for a car crash involving a pedestrian.

    Officers say a man was in the road when he was struck by a Kia that was traveling in the eastbound lane. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. After the crash, the driver fled on foot, abandoning the Kia on 16th Avenue, south of Jersey Avenue.

    According to the CHP, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved at this time.

    CHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information regarding the identity of the driver of the Kia to please call their Hanford office at (559) 582-0231.
