    IDENTIFIED: Lemoore man who drowned in the Kings River

    KINGS COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man whose body was recovered from the Kings River was identified by the Kings County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

    Sheriff’s officials say at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, a man entered the Kings River with several friends to “float” downstream. Soon after entering the river, one man began swimming to shore as his friends continued.

    The man, 57-year-old James Richard Stamps of Lemoore, was reported missing. An extensive search began with personnel from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and Kings County Sheriff’s Office searching the Kings River.

    According to officials, James’ body was recovered on Sunday around 1:50 a.m. inside the Kings River, west of Highway 43 in Kings County, and he was subsequently pronounced dead.
