North Platte, Neb. - Fair week is underway for Lincoln County and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds welcome in Lincoln, Logan and McPherson County 4-H'rs all week long to participate in different events. Taking Place Monday at the fairgrounds is the 4-H Livestock Sale with the buyer's lunch beginning at 12:00pm and the sale begins at 1:00pm. The sale will be a premium only.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - After an active early summer season which gave us a lot of rain chances and a good amount of severe weather days, we are calming down nicely. Expect more sunshine with increasing temperatures through this week. Thursday also brings sunny skies and highs rise into the upper 90s. Smoke from wildfires in the NW United States and SW Canada has been filtering in with a northeast wind to start the week. The winds flipping to the south will push the some back north as we progress through mid-to-late week. However, that means a big ridge in the jet stream will take over, making us hot and dry through at least the weekend.

Gordon-Rushville crews battling fires as area experiences very high fire danger
RUSHVILLE, Neb. - Firefighters in the Gordon-Rushville area are battling two fires amidst very high fire danger conditions. One of the fires is located north of Rushville, approximately one mile south of Hands of Faith, according to Gordon Fire Chief Rich Haller. Haller said that they received a mutual aid call to help and have sent a couple of grass rigs and a tanker to the scene.

Trial set for Gering man charged in baby’s death
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A trial date has tentatively been set for a Gering man charged with killing a 1-year-old baby earlier this year. Tyler Green, 31, plead not guilty to intentional child abuse resulting in death charges, a Class 1B Felony. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
Firefighters battle grass fire west of Sidney
CHEYENNE COUNTY (July 25, 2024) -- Firefighters from several agencies battled a fire west of Sidney near Cheyenne County Roads 105 and 24 Wednesday. At about 1:23 p.m., Sidney Fire Department received a page of a fire west of Sidney with flames showing. An estimated 275 acres were burned in the fire. The scene was cleared at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday.
