Illinois Representatives Sorensen, Durbin, And Duckworth Reveal $25.4 Million Funding For Mass Transit Districts
Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), along with U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), have announced that the Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District (MetroLINK) and the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District will receive a total of $25,415,095 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation. MetroLINK will be awarded $10,000,000, while the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District will receive $14,415,095.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - We have quite the active next few days and it starts with tonight. We could see a few scattered storms this evening, but a line of showers and storms is expected to move across the stateline after midnight tonight. This line will be in a weakening phase, but with how hot and humid it is, it will still have enough juice to potentially be on the severe side as we are in a slight 2 out of 5 risk. Winds are the primary threat with a few larger hail stones and one or two tornadoes possible. We’ll get down to the lower 70s tonight.
5 Injured In Accident Near Galena
Authorities in northwest Illinois say five Galena residents were injured when a vehicle went off the road near Galena. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff say the crash happened around 5:30 on Friday evening on South Black Jack Road. Authorities say a vehicle driven by 28-year old Dylan Dupree was traveling south; at the same time a construction truck was starting to pull out from driveway. Investigators say due to the speed Dupree’s vehicle was traveling, he lost control and the vehicle went into the ditch and hit a tree.
