Cause of House Fire Determined
KNOXVILLE - The cause of yesterday's fire at 4415 Norwalk Ave. has been determined to have been caused by an overloaded power strip. "During a typical year, home electrical problems account for 90,000 fires, over 700 deaths, and $700 million in property losses," said Asst. Fire Chief Mark Wilbanks.

4-star LB Christian Gass announces commitment
Four-star linebacker recruit Christian Gass has committed to the Tennessee Volunteers over the Georgia Bulldogs. Gass’ commitment brings Tennessee’s class of 2025 into the top-10 recruiting classes in the country. The elite linebacker prospect plays high school football for Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia. The Eastside standout is Tennessee’s No. 18 commitment in the class of 2025. The Volunteers are still behind Georgia in the SEC recruiting rankings. Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart have the third-best recruiting class in the nation. Gass is ranked as the No. 204 player in the class of 2025, per the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker is the No. 22 player at his position and the No. 31 prospect in Georgia. Tennessee is getting a that versatile linebacker plays both edge and outside linebacker. Gass has excellent speed off the edge and sticks to opposing receiving targets in pass coverage. Gass also runs track for Eastside and has good speed.
Mission of Hope to host 'Pack The Bus' for 11th year, helping give school supplies to students in need
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Over the tax-free weekend, families will take advantage of Tennessee's sales tax holiday by shopping for back-to-school items. Mission of Hope wants to use that time and savings to help them "Pack The Bus." The nonprofit said 2024 marks the 11th year Mission of Hope will have a bus outside the Office Max in Turkey Creek to collect school supplies. These supplies are then collected and sent to over 10,000 students in rural Appalachia.

Five-Star Shooting Guard Visiting Tennessee Basketball This Fall
Five-star shooting guard Darius Adams plans to visit Tennessee basketball from September 13-15, 247sports Dushawn London reported over the weekend. The trip to Knoxville is one of six visits Adams has planned this fall. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard also has plans to visit North Carolina State, Michigan State, Alabama, Connecticut and Notre Dame.
