Kinston man arrested for copper and other metals theft
A Kinston man was arrested earlier today after being identified on surveillance cameras for allegedly stealing copper and other metals from a residence on Sunday. Austin Ray Newcome, 26, was identified by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Monday after the suspect was seen on surveillance cameras stealing copper and other metals from a Ben Dail Road residence on Sunday between 6 and 8 p.m. Newcome also used a vehicle on the property to help remove the metal.

Kinston couple arrested in stolen SUV with fake license plate on N.C. 11
A stolen car was recovered in Kinston recently after being pulled over for a routine expired registration. Per the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office around 4:30pm on Sunday July 7 a State Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a black Nissan Rogue SUV for an expired and fake registration. After further investigation of the SUV's VIN number the car had been reported stolen in 2023. Driver, Donald Oneal Edwards, 61, and passenger, Tina Ann Williams-Ray, 63, both of 421 N. Davis Street of Kinston, were arrested and taken into custody.
Traffic stop leads to Methamphetamine arrest
KPD's D-Squad conducted a traffic stop on the 3000 block of W Vernon Avenue with Jesse Jones (33 of Grifton). During the traffic stop, K9 Kang was called to the scene to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Kang gave his handler indication that narcotics were in vehicle. A search was conducted and officers located methamphetamine and a pipe used for smoking narcotics. Jones was taken into custody and placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond for the following:
