INDIANOLA, Iowa — KCCI viewer Gentry Burton shared photos of her adult children kayaking down a flooded Indianola street this week. The Warren County town saw about 5 inches of rain Tuesday as strong storms pushed across the state. The storms prompted several tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, as well as flooding and flash flooding in a number of areas.

Police investigating two robberies at Des Moines gas station
DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating two separate robberies at the Git N Go on Keosauqua Way. Both were reported in the last week. The first incident happened on Saturday, June 29. According to investigators, a worker reported a suspect armed with a knife and a handgun. Police say one person ran from officers and was detained, but they were not charged in the robbery.

There are many unanswered questions about what the coming months look like, but on Thursday, many Greenfield residents took the time to leave those worries behind and celebrate the Fourth of July down the road in Fontanelle.
Osceola Library offers digital piano for public use
The Osceola Public Library has added another amenity to their roster of items available to the public for use - a digital piano. The piano was purchased by the library as an availability for people to use if they don’t have a piano at home or access to one otherwise. The library also hosts different programs throughout the year, and the piano can be used at those if needed. A digital piano is an electric keyboard that is made to sound and feel like a traditional acoustic piano, however it is portable and has volume control.
Clarke softball has tough week
Clarke softball went 0-3 in games last week against opponents Cardinal, Dowling Catholic and Knoxville. Against Knoxville on Thursday, June 27, Clarke held the Lady Panthers to just six runs over six innings, but didn’t manage to get any runs themselves. The Lady Indians had six total hits - one each from Maisy McCoy, Ali Henry, Maddy McCoy, Tory Henry, Reese Shaw and Liliana Contreras. Tory Henry had one successful stolen base attempt.
Community Foundation for Western Iowa Announces Appointment of Two Board of Directors and Seven Committee Members
(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Community Foundation for Western Iowa is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, Christina Bateman of Atlantic, Iowa, and Kevin Cabbage of Stanton, Iowa. Bateman and Cabbage joined the Community Foundation’s 15-member board comprised of dedicated community members and leaders committed to improving the lives of all residents in western Iowa. The two began their three-year terms in May, with the option to serve a maximum of three terms.
Council considers action on fiber project
The Red Oak City Council is continuing to consider its options in regards to FMTC fiber internet. Backlash has occurred in the community over the revelation that the fiber internet will not be installed using a vault system, and instead will be implemented using pedestals located in either the parking or city right-of-way alleys at spots around the community.

Katie and Guy Richardson Selected as July Yard of the Month
The Jefferson Garden Club has announced its next Yard of the Month. Katie and Guy Richardson’s home at 608 South Chestnut Street is July’s honoree. In the front part of the lot are large beds of roses, miniature boxwoods, day lilies and hostas that were planted over 15 years ago. There are also corner pillars that have geraniums, and shrubs surround the front porch of the home that was built in 1912.
