Moore crowned 2024 Page County Fair Queen
(Clarinda) -- One of Clarinda's own was crowned royalty at the Page County Fair this week. Addison Moore was crowned the 2024 Page County Fair Queen during coronation ceremonies on Tuesday. Entering her senior year at Clarinda High School, Moore is involved in cross country, track, and softball, along with a plethora of other extracurriculars, including 4-H and student council. Moore tells KMA News she was honored and surprised to hear her name called for fair queen.

Polk County K-9 to receive new body armor in memory of fallen DMPD K-9
DES MOINES, Iowa — A Polk County K-9 now has its own body armor, thanks to a donation in memory of a Des Moines police K-9. K-9 Bax received the present from a nonprofit group whose mission is to protect K-9s. Vested Interest in K-9s is giving the department a protective vest for Bax. It will be embroidered with "In Memory of K-9 Hobbs."

Clarinda Alley Improvement project nearing completion
(Clarinda) -- Improvements to an alley by Clarinda city hall are nearing completion. During its regular meeting Wednesday evening, the Clarinda City Council unanimously approved pay request no. 3 to Crain Construction for just over $311,000 on the Clarinda Alley Improvement Project. City Manager Gary McClarnon says funding for the water quality project came through a program associated with the recent construction of the city's new wastewater treatment plant. McClarnon tells KMA News the project, which replaced the pavement with brick pavers, is substantially complete.

Iowa mother, father accused of leaving 4-year-old with relatives, telling them to keep child in 'makeshift cage'
An Iowa mother and father were arrested for neglect and abandonment of a dependent person and child endangerment after a 4-year-old was found in "a mixture of both human and animal feces," according to Fremont County deputies. The Late Bob Bebensee Honored at 2024 Cass County Fair Horse Show
(Atlantic) The late Bob Bebensee was honored before the Cass County Horse Show started on Thursday afternoon. Bob, known as “Cowboy Bob,” passed away last summer.
