You May Be Breaking Some of These Massachusetts Laws Without Knowing It
Massachusetts seems to have a law for everything and while it makes sense for some things others are just strange. As we all know the 4th of July recently passed and Massachusetts is the only state that has a law against consumer fireworks including buying, selling, and using. Some folks agree with this law while others think it's complete nonsense. In addition, this law doesn't seem to be enforced in Massachusetts at least not in my area. So, why even have the law if it's not being enforced? Either way, the law is the law.
Envisioning Future Holliston needs another DEI representative ASAP
The Envisioning Future Holliston Committee, which is charged with overseeing the implementation of Holliston’s Strategic Plan, has an opening for an alternate member who would focus on ensuring that diversity, equity and inclusion are integrated into this work. The current representative in this area is Marlene Fine, but an alternate is needed. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be part of making our town more inclusive for those of diverse backgrounds, circumstances and experiences. The alternate would attend and participate in all meetings of the EFH Committee, which are monthly, and work with committee members and town departments over time.
There’s a Vacancy on Bedford Planning Board
The deadline for applying for appointment to fill a six-plus-month seat on the Bedford Planning Board is 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. The vacancy results from the resignation of Jacinda Barbehenn, who is moving out of town. Under the town bylaws, the remaining members of the board, in a joint meeting with the Select Board, interview applicants and name a replacement to serve until the next town election, March 8, 2025. The remaining year will be on the local ballot.
