The most anti-July weather in recent memory continues!
Hopefully y’all were jumping for joy yesterday (or maybe not jumping so you didn’t slip on some wet ground) with widespread rain and with generally “cool” temperatures! Although some spots did reach the upper 80s and low 90s thanks to a later arrival time to rain, yesterday’s high temperature was recorded at 84° at the Waco Airport! Although it wasn’t the coldest July 22nd ever, that was in 1944 when it was only 77°, it was the third coldest July 22nd in history and the coolest July day since July 9th, 2021. The unseasonable weather continues today, but the rain chances are a bit different. We’ll still have an all-day chance for showers and thunderstorms, but the widespread rain chances are mainly going to be around for the morning and midday hours. We’ll likely start to see rain coverage come down as the day goes on, but a surge of Gulf of Mexico air could bring more storms late today to Milam, Robertson, and Leon County. Showers and storms today should come to a close gradually, likely ending during the early evening hours before we return back to mostly dry weather Wednesday. Although the rain chances have slipped to 20%, high temperatures Wednesday won’t be too terrible as we’ll likely max out in the low 90s!
