Small town of Henderson preps for big RAGBRAI role
(Henderson) -- One of KMAland's smallest communities experiences a temporary population growth this Sunday. Thousands of bicycle enthusiasts and supporters are expecting to stop in Henderson en route between Glenwood and Red Oak on the first leg of RAGBRAI 51. Rachel Knight chairs Henderson's RAGBRAI Committee, and is a member of the community's vendor committee. Knight tells KMA News the community of 144 people is perhaps the smallest meeting town in RAGBRAI history. Still, she says it has big plans for riders stopping by, including a live band and plenty of food.
Burlington Woman Arrested After Traffic Stop
On July 16, 2024, at approximately 9:03p.m. Des Moines County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at Central Ave. and Columbia St. in Burlington, IA. During the traffic stop deputies were given consent to search the vehicle. Deputies located methamphetamine inside of a coin purse where the backseat passenger had been sitting.

West Des Moines Man Sentenced to Prison for 2023 Incident in Jefferson
A West Des Moines man was sentenced to prison following an incident in Greene County. According to court documents, 36-year-old Austin Hill pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree conspiracy to commit fraudulent practices. He was sentenced to two years in prison, which was to run consecutively with two unrelated cases in Adams and Marshall counties.
